Thoughts are just thoughts, NOT facts! Therefore whatever you are thinking that is leading you to feel depressed, stressed, or anxious is usually up for negotiation and reconsideration. If we are not careful, our minds have a way of catastrophizing situations and making them into mountains that we feel like we can’t get around. In counseling, I utilize strength based CBT techniques to draw out exceptions to the rules the... mind has created. Perception is everything; if you can find a new way of looking at things going on in your life, you can change the way you're feeling and acting in relation to these matters. Utilizing person centered therapeutic interventions, I guide my clients through their thought processes, taking time to identify distorted thinking patterns that keeps them feeling depressed, stressed, and anxious. With the awareness of the self-defeating stories they've been telling themselves, clients become more cognizant of emotional and behavioral triggers. With awareness, change can happen for those who are dedicated and tired of doing the same thing and expecting different results. Instead of dwelling on self-defeated beliefs that keep them feeling overwhelmed or discouraged, together we refocus their energy toward thoughts of inner strength and motivation.
