Hey!
Meet LaShonda
Hey! I'm LaShonda (She, Her, Hers). I am the founding owner and clinical director of Sims Counseling & Consulting. I was born and raised in Kentucky, and Louisville is home for me. I received my Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy from Western Kentucky University. I am a National Certified Counselor, and currently hold professional license in two states; I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Kentucky and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. Being the life learner that I am, I am currently a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) student with the Somatic Experiencing Institute and have fully embraced the body-based approach to healing trauma. I enjoy traveling the world and submerging myself into new cultures. For seven years of my life, I lived abroad in Europe and Asia providing counseling and support to the brave men and women of our military. In addition to my clinical training, I am also a trauma informed yoga teacher, mindfulness coach, and professional consultant. Outside of the office, I enjoy being present with family, spending countless hours listening to podcast, practicing yoga, spending time in nature, indulging in ALL things self-care, traveling, reading, and dabbling in DIY projects! As a new mom, I enjoy sleep in a whole new way and embrace each and every moment to rest my mind and body. I am so glad that you have taken this first step toward honoring what you need in this moment.
Just tune into your body and BREATHE into the next step,
You got this!

Hi!
Meet Brianna
Hi, I’m Brianna! I was born and raised in New Albany, Indiana. I received my Masters of Education degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville. I am a Licensed Psychological Associate in the state of Kentucky. With my licensure I am able to provide therapeutic and psychological assessment services for clients. Outside of my professional life, I am a pug mom to my sweet boy Benvolio (or ‘Benny’ for short) who I spend a lot of my free time with - going on walks, watching tv, and, of course, giving lots of snuggles, belly rubs, and kisses! Some of my interests include history, architecture (Cheap Old Houses is my favorite), art, reading, watching movies, getting out in nature, traveling, cooking, and trying new foods/restaurants. I try to give myself permission to relax and enjoy the life I have around me, as well as step out into new adventures and experiences. Sometimes it can be intimidating when entering into the unknown, but the journey is always worth it and helps us grow into who we are meant to become. I am really looking forward to meeting you and walking alongside you as you take the next step towards what you need in this moment.
We’re in this together!

Hello!
Meet Marie
Hello, My name is Marie. I am a licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Kentucky.
I am originally from central Africa - Gabon, to be specific. Some of my fondest childhood memories are set in my native land where I’d sit at my grandfather’s feet every night and listen to him tell stories. He would share fables of fierce jungle animals that depicted themes of wisdom, bravery, corruption, friendship, and so much more. Through his stories, I learned the importance of staying motivated despite whatever weakness or adversity you may encounter.
The lessons I learned inspired my move to Kentucky 16 years ago. I was determined to further my education using any and all opportunities my new home would grant me. Upon my arrival, I started my career in education with the Early HeadStart Program serving low-income families in my community. Through my work in education, I gained up-close and personal insight into the needs of families struggling with mental health. Working within this community ultimately inspired me to go back to school. So, I re-enrolled and graduated with my Master of Education degree in Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College. My specialities include counseling those with mood or anxiety disorders, older clients, people with physical disabilities, and/or individuals struggling with any major life changes. If you feel isolated, depressed, or anxious, it would be my privilege to work with you. I love to motivate and empower my clients.

It would be my honor to work with you.

Hi!
Meet Sophia
Hi, I’m Sophia (she/her/hers). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Kentucky. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsey Wilson College and a Certificate in Mindfulness from UofL. I’m originally from California and grew up in Kansas. I have done a fair amount of traveling in the US and Europe, and I am proud to call Louisville home.
My goal as your therapist is to create a safe space where we can reduce your mental suffering and develop, in you, a sense of inner-peace. I am eclectic in my therapeutic approach and will encourage the integration of mindfulness and meditation practices in and out of session. I specialize in helping people process feelings of shame, low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I wholeheartedly believe that you can learn to love yourself and breathe through the stress when life gets tough.

As hard as it may seem, people are able to make changes in their mental health and in their lives. And that is exciting because then, “It's not about what it is, it’s about what it can become!” -Dr. Seuss

I look forward to working with you.

Hi!
Meet Chelsea
Hi, I'm Chelsea. My philosophy is deeply rooted into self awareness. Sometimes we experience the emotions but don’t have the words to describe them. Sometimes we can explain exactly how we feel but struggle to show it. Though we may not have control over the cause of our life obstacles, we have the power of choice and ultimate control over our reaction to said struggles. Being self aware affects both our inter- and intrapersonal connections.
As a Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy therapist, I believe it is beneficial for the client to establish and nourish their self awareness indefinitely.
I'm equipped and available to provide the safe space for you to become more self aware, and ultimately, help you find the consistency and resilience that lies within you for a more well-balanced life.
There may be times in life where it is hard to see our own character, feelings, motives and desires. It’s important that we have the tools to navigate through the feelings that are hard to explain. As a result, knowing how to effectively self express, and reap the benefits of healthy communication and flourishing relationships.

I am excited to work with you.

Hi!
Meet Katie
Hi! I am Katie. I am a Licensed Art Therapist Associate who believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship to facilitate change.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, using strength based, client-centered, and holistic practices. As an art therapist, clients have the option to engage in art therapy. No experience with art required. The creative process, artwork, and discussion provides an opportunity to integrate fractured pieces of the mind, body, and spirit.
I've worked with individuals across the lifespan, ages 4-95, from outpatient to inpatient levels of care.
I specialize in people living with anxiety, substance abuse, depression, trauma, those searching for fluidity within all life transitions, to develop more intuitive coping skills, or those seeking space to empower and define themselves.

I look forward to working with you.

Hello
Meet Denielle
Hello and welcome!
My name is Denielle Smith. I am a Marriage & Family Therapy Associate that enjoys working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families who desire a safe space to express their thoughts and feelings.
Reaching out for help might be one of the most difficult aspects of the therapeutic journey, but it is a step toward healing. As a Marriage & Family Therapist, I think about issues systemically, including how family dynamics influence how we think, feel, and behave. I encourage my clients to share their concerns while using a collaborative, experiential, and strength-based approach.
In the therapeutic partnership, my purpose is to support you on your journey of discovery and new perspectives. I work with clients who have anxiety, depression, grieving, childhood behavioral difficulties, relational difficulties, trauma, and race-based traumatic stress. My goal is to give people the tools and resources they need to make positive changes in their life and become unstuck.
I also work with clients to develop goals and treatment techniques that will lead to client success and positive self-esteem. Healing is an individual process and I am here to assist you in taking the first step toward healing and change.
